MANILA Various media groups, along with friends and colleagues of arrested journalist Lady Ann Salem, launched the #FreeLadyAnnSalem network today Dec. 18, to call for her immediate and unconditional release.
“My sister never took arms, she does not know how to use a gun,” Jasma Salem told the media, “She is a journalist and I do not find anything wrong with that.”

Media groups sue NTF-ELCAC officials over red-tagging
Alternative media practitioners and their lawyers from the National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers (NUPL) file charges against government officials over red-tagging, Dec. 18.
“Complainants have been targeted for their critical and independent reporting on issues affecting the marginalized and oppressed sectors. It was the mothers and family members of the EJK victims of Duterte s drug war who filed with the ICC through the National Union of Peoples Lawyers (NUPL). Pls. don t red tag them, Casiño told Trillanes on Twitter on Thursday. But Trillanes said he did not mention that the kin of the extrajudicial killings were part of the communist movement.
