An Army Lieutenant from Brighton who was reported missing in action during the Korean War will finally be laid to rest in Bourne. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced that Army 1st Lt. Thomas J. Redgate, 24, had been accounted for in a press release dated Wednesday, July 28. The statement said that his remains were accounted for in April 2020. Lt. Redgate was a member of the Battery A, 48th Field Artillery Battalion, 7th Infantry Division, when he went missing on December 11, 1950. He had been killed when his unit was attacked by enemy forces near the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea. His remains could not be recovered by the United States at the time.
