Education minister Pokriyal to hold virtual meet with IITs, NITs, IISER and IISCs directors today
 Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal on Thursday will interact with the directors of Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs), and Indian Institute of Science (IISCs).
In this virtual meeting, the minister will discuss the management of COVID-19, online learning, and the latest status of implementation of the New Education Policy-2020.
Earlier this week, the minister also interacted with the state Education secretaries, and the Vice-Chancellors of Central Universities, in two different virtual meetings, to review the online education amid COVID-19, and to talk about the planning and implementation of the New Education Policy-2020.

The decision to conduct offline exams will again be reviewed in the first week of June
The Education Ministry has directed IITs, NITs, all centrally-funded educational institutions (CFTIs) to defer their offline examinations scheduled this month. The ministry, however, said that online exams can continue. The ministry s request comes in the midst of worsening Covid-19 pandemic situation.Â
Higher Education Secretary Amit Khare in his letter to the institutes said, The institutions have been further advised to ensure that if anyone in the institution needs any assistance it should be provided immediate possible help so that he/she comes out of the distress at the earliest. All Institutions have to encourage eligible persons to go for vaccination and ensure that everyone follows Covid-19 appropriate behaviour to remain safe.

The Education Ministry has asked centrally-funded institutions to postpone all offline examinations scheduled to be conducted in May due to the second wave of Covid-19.
The centrally-funded institutions include Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) , Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and Central Universities.
In a letter addressed to all the heads of centrally funded institutions, Higher Education Secretary Amit Khare has asked the Institutions to postpone all offline examinations scheduled in the month of May, 2021, an official statement added. The Ministry added that all online examinations, can continue.
