ASTM International Approves Face Covering Standard, Releases PPE White Paper

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., Feb. 17, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Today, global standards organization ASTM International approved a new standard for barrier face coverings that will help establish minimum design, performance, labeling, and care requirements for reusable barrier face coverings. The standard was developed by ASTM s committee on personal protective clothing and equipment (F23).
The new standard (F3502) is intended to apply to the general public and workers and includes specific requirements for barrier face coverings including design and general construction criteria, particle filtration efficiency levels, sizing and fit testing criteria, labeling instructions, and guidance on cleaning and recommended periods of use.

Sinapi Biomedicalâs factory in Idas Valley was temporarily shut down due to non-compliance to Covid-19 regulation last Wednesday (27 January) when some workers refused to work after finding out that one of their colleagues had tested positive for Covid-19, but that the premises had not been fumigated.
Sinapi Biomedical manufactures various medical equipment for hospitals.
âThe same thing happened last June after Covid-19 positive cases,â says one of the employees after the latest incident. The employee wishes to remain anonymous.
