WATERTOWN — State Assemblyman Mark C. Walczyk and Sen. Patricia A. Ritchie are joining a Rochester-area state lawmaker in calling on Attorney General Letitia A. James to investigate the death of city firefighter Peyton Lane S. Morse, who died Friday from a medical emergency he suffered while training at the state fire academy almost two weeks ago. On Tuesday, Assemblyman Josh Jensen, R,C,I-Greece, sent a letter to the attorney general requesting that her office investigate the circumstances surrounding the medical emergency suffered by Mr. Morse as he was completing a mask confidence exercise March 3 at the New York State Academy of Fire Science in Montour Falls, near Watkins Glen.

Watertown Fire Department, state police bring city firefighter Peyton Morse home

WATERTOWN — Fire Chief Jeff VanBrocklin and members of the Watertown Fire Department were perched on the outer Massey Street overpass Monday afternoon to pay their respects while a procession brought city firefighter Peyton Morse home. State troopers led the hearse along the 130-mile route from Binghamton to Cummings Funeral Home on Sterling Street. Dozens of police and fire department vehicles joined along the way on Interstate 81. First responders lined up on other overpasses along the busy highway to honor him. The motorcade brought the young fallen firefighter home from a hospital in Binghamton after he died Friday from a medical emergency he suffered while training at the state fire academy 12 days ago.

Understand that the odorant in natural gas or propane can fade. Are trained on the proper calibration, maintenance, and use of gas detection equipment to determine if a potential explosive atmosphere is present.
