Jack Dinsley during a visit to Oak Primary School in Huddersfield prior to the pandemic “School was hard,” says Jack. “It was difficult to have teachers isolate me and not pick me to answer questions in class because of my speech. Small things like that build up.” Thankfully, Jack has made a habit of proving people wrong. Born in Kirkham, Jack is now a fiercely passionate stammer activist with a degree in journalism from UCLan who has appeared on BBC Newsround, BBC Radio 1, BBC Newsbeat, and BBC Lancashire. Jack Dinsley founded Be Kind Stammer in January last year With one in 100 people in the UK living with a stammer, he is ardent in his determination to shout his message of support from the rooftops and raise awareness of stammering across the board.

Former Bushey teacher nominated in National Diversity Awards

A former teacher who has helped mentor young people with learning difficulties for many years has been nominated in the National Diversity Awards. Dan Gaze, who served various roles at Falconer School in Bushey for 12 and a half years, has spent the majority of his life transforming the lives of young people with learning difficulties. Mr Gaze explained that he went through a “difficult period” in his life during 2002 which involved him being in prison for several months. As he overcame it, he trained as a teacher in hope to help children with social, economic and mental health (SEMH) difficulties.
