Daniele Johnson
When asked about Black History Month, Daniele Johnson quickly refers to a quote from President Gerald Ford:
“Seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.”
“This summarizes the reason that we still need Black History Month,” said Daniele. “I’ve witnessed many non-Blacks complain about the need for a whole month to focus on Black history and they inquire why is there not a month that highlights their non-Black history. I would defer to this quote every time!”
Daniele believes that every single month, we as a country need to acknowledge and learn about the contributions of Black Americans, not just in February.
