Dangote empowers 16,000 rural women in all Kwara LG

Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF), on Wednesday, empowered a total of 16,000 women in all the 16 local governments area of Kwara State. Each of the 16 thousand rural women were given the sum of N10,000 each, to help boost their petty trade and also start new businesses. In all, a total of N160,000 million were given to the rural women in a funfair event, held in Moro Local Government area of Kwara State. Deputy Governor of the state, who stood in for the Governor, Abdulraham Abdulrasaq, lauded the ADF empowerment programme and described it as part of the key economic tools needed toboost the socio-economic activities of the rural areas, and ultimately the state.

Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, has challenged the state-owned University to develop alternative means of power supply to the university. Fintiri, who threw the challenge at the combined 5th – 12th convocation ceremony of the University, held on Saturday, in Mubi, said that he was aware that the University was grappling with service problems, such as lack of safe water, electricity, and waste disposal. ” Instead of spending millions on diesel to power generators for instance, why can’t the university devote itself to research in alternative and cheap energy in the long run, for the campus. x ” With all the Physics and other related researchers, why must the university be part of the diesel guzzling community?

Sokoto University produces 36 first class, 1,473 graduands in maiden convocation

Share Sokoto State University is set to produce nothing less than 36 first-class honours in her maiden convocation ceremony scheduled to come up on Saturday at the school premises. The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Sani M. Dangoggo, stated this in his pre-convocation press conference held at the senate building in the University on Tuesday ahead of the convocation slated to hold on Friday, 12 and Saturday 13, March 2021. Professor Dangoggo said the maiden convocation ceremony is a combination of three sets of graduands from 2016/2017, 2017/2018 and 2019/2020 academic sessions respectively. He said the school will honour three Nigerians with honourary degree including the pioneer Chancellor of the school, while the convocation lecture will be delivered by the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osibajo on Friday.
