View Comments A 9-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy were found dead in Tempe after their mother reported that she was hearing voices telling her to kill her children, the Tempe Police Department said. The woman drove to and then flagged down an officer at the department s Apache substation near Broadway Road and McClintock Drive just after 7 a.m. and said she was hearing voices telling her to kill her kids, spokesman Sgt. Steven Carbajal said. There was an officer that was heading out of the station just to take care of his normal patrol duties for the day and she seemed pretty frantic and flagged him down, Carbajal said during a press conference Saturday afternoon.

Woman accused of abandoning newborn in trash barrel in Boston after giving birth arraigned on attempted murder charge as child recovers Updated Mar 02, 2021; The woman accused of leaving a newborn baby in a trash barrel in Boston shortly after giving birth last week was arraigned Monday on charges of attempted murder and reckless endangerment of a child , authorities said. The newborn was safe and recovering Monday as Marie Merisier was arraigned in the Dorchester Division of Boston Municipal Court. Her bail was set at $100,000, and she was ordered to stay away from and have no contact with the baby and any witnesses, remain under home confinement and submit to GPS monitoring if she’s released on bail, according to Suffolk District Attorney Rachael Rollins’ office.
