WASHINGTON:  Indo-Pacific Command has drafted a new warfighting concept for the Asian theater, designed to parallel the global Joint Warfighting Concept spearheaded by the Joint Staff, says George Ka’iliwai, INDOPACOM director for requirements. The new INDOPACOM Warfighting Concept (IPWC) is being shepherded by the command’s J5 planning directorate, Ka’iliwai, who heads the J8 section (requirements), told reporters at the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) POST conference on Friday. “As far as progress, the J5 has completed the concepts behind the IPWC. The J5 has also done what we call a ‘roadshow,’ and as socialized and vetted the IPWC with our component commanders,” he said. “And we still have a ways to go as far as working through the Department of Defense.”

Mar 11, 2021 Arthur Harold Gilmore, 89, passed away peacefully March 6, 2021 at his home in Gainesville, Virginia, with his wife, Nell and their three children, Barbara Grasso (Gary), Michael (Kathy), and Stephen (Nancy) by his side. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Katherine Burge (Brandon), Michael Grasso (Megan), Thomas Grasso, Mitchell Gilmore, and Trent Gilmore; seven great-grandchildren; and by his brother, Dale Gilmore (Ann). Art was preceded in death by his sister, Harriett Deissler (Howard). Arthur was born April 21, 1931 in Williamsport, to Paul and Harriett Gilmore. During his time at Williamsport High School he enlisted in the Naval Reserve and while in the Reserves decided to compete for an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy. He graduated from Williamsport High School and Severn School in Severna Park, Maryland, in 1949. Arthur received his appointment and that summer reported to the Naval Academy. SOCOM Shows Interest in Hybrid, AI-Enabled Vehicles SPECIAL OPERATIONS 3/9/2021 Defense Dept. photo Special Operations Command is experimenting with emerging technologies as it works to bolster its ground vehicle fleet with new capabilities. The command’s family of vehicles which features 3,000 platforms includes the Ground Mobility Vehicle 1.1, light tactical all-terrain vehicles, non-standard commercial vehicles and mine-resistant ambush protected platforms, said Navy Cmdr. Tim Hawkins, a SOCOM spokesman. Special Operations Command is currently investing its research, development, testing and evaluation dollars for vehicles in lightweight armor, hybrid-electric systems, advanced situational awareness and autonomy/semi-autonomy, Hawkins said in an email to National Defense. It is seeking technology that maximizes mobility, payload and protection.
