1070 civil servants are assisting healthcare workers around the country to contain the spread coronavirus. Assistant Minister for Disaster Management Vijay Nath said these civil servants are on the ground daily to provide support to divisional operation centres. Nath said civil servants are also at containment borders to assist social welfare recipients, help farmers sell agricultural produce and provide general assistance through the runners system. “There are 488 civil servants in the Central Division helping healthcare workers in helping to contain the coronavirus. Also 81 in the Eastern Division, 228 in the North and 277 in the West,” he said. He said the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) through the divisional commissioner’s office has been playing a pivotal role in the ongoing coronavirus operations.
