The National Public Health Organisation (NPHO) on Sunday confirmed five deaths and 142 people intubated in ICUs. The first locally-transmitted case of the Delta variant was detected in the country after a woman in Xanthi, north-eastern Greece, tested positive. She had reportedly just returned from vacations on the island of Crete where the specific variant had been detected in several people. The woman has mild symptoms and is not hospitalised as yet. Over 50 children in five summer camps have tested positive to COVID-19 over the last few days, reports state broadcaster ERT. There are camps in Lavrio (Attica), Ilia (Peloponnese), Sofiko (Corith), Chana (Crete) and Haklidiki (central Macedonia) where infections have been detected in children as well as several workers.
