An extremely contagious variant of Covid-19 that has locked down South Africa, has been identified in Greece.
“The first detection of the mutation was found in the area of Thessaloniki, there is no reason to panic. The strain was found in a church official. ATHENS Greece registered 1.151 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, of which 8 were identified at the country s entry points, said the National Public Health Organization (EODY).
All cases in Greece total 159.866 of which 5.999 relate to travel from abroad and 50.438 to already confirmed infection cases.
A total of 246 individuals are intubated. Their median age is 70 years, 86.6 pct have an underlying condition or are aged 70 or more and 177 of them are men. Another 1.138 have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic.
