EXCLUSIVE: Nigerian soldier arrested in motor park with 2,000 rounds of ammunition
A military insider says the army is waiting on the Borno State Police Command to hand over the erring soldier to it for a detailed investigation of the matter.

Nigerian Army personnel, Sanni Mohammed, has been arrested with two boxes containing about 2,000 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, those familiar with the matter have told PREMIUM TIMES.
The soldier, a lance corporal, was arrested at the Borno Express park in Maiduguri on Monday by officials of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) as he was about to board a bus to Nigeria’s capital, Abuja.
As stones and broken bottles flew like missiles, all trapped victims scampered to different directions, while the riders, who were not ready to shift grounds, went after members of the road transport workers, who, at 10am, an hour after the fracas started, were seen brandishing different types of weapons.
At the time the dust settled hours later, two persons were discovered to have been killed, many injured and several properties destroyed in the mayhem, which many said would have been avoided by a timely arrival of security operatives to the scene.
Our correspondent discovered that the fracas lasted for six hours and 45 minutes before normalcy returned to the area.

The directive, according to a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Nnanyelugo Chidi Aroh, was part of the outcome of Gov. Ugwuanyi’s consultation with relevant stakeholders in the state on security, which commenced on Wednesday.

CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, announced their query on Thursday when he addressed the media.
Emefiele further announced the reinstatement of Adesola Adeduntan as First Bank Managing Director.
The apex bank declared that the appointment of Gbenga Shobo was done without its approval.
Emefiele said CBN has been involved in management changes involving First Bank in the last 5 years to stem the slide regarding the status of the bank.
The Governor expressed surprise that First Bank effected sweeping changes in executive management without engagement and/or prior notice to the authorities.
He noted that the action sends a negative signal to the market on the stability of leadership on the board and management.
