Authorities investigate a helicopter crash that left the pilot dead Monday in Elgin, Minnesota.
ELGIN, Minn. (FOX 9) - The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating a helicopter crash that left the pilot dead Monday near Elgin, Minnesota.
The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jim Warren reported that the crash happened at about 3:50 p.m. Officials said the aircraft had been in the area most of the day, spraying crops. It is believed the blades of the Robinson R-44 helicopter got caught up in some power lines, causing it to crash.

COMSTOCK, Texas (AP) One person was was found dead when the wreckage of small plane was discovered on a ranch in rural West Texas, authorities said.
Val Verde County Sheriff Joe Frank Martinez said Monday that a landowner found the wreckage of the private plane on Sunday and called the sheriff s office.
The Federal Aviation Administration said that only the pilot was aboard the plane.
Authorities said the wreckage was found near Comstock, which is about 30 miles northwest of Del Rio.
Martinez said they re still trying to determine when the plane crashed.

NAPA COUNTY, CA Three people killed in a plane crash Friday near the Angwin airport were identified Monday by the Napa County Sheriff-Coroner s Office as a pilot from Southern California his daughter and son-in-law, who were riding as passengers.
Robert Nicholas, 73, of Murrieta, California, died, as did his daughter, Shauna Waite, 37, and her husband, James Waite, 37, both of Arlington, Virginia.
The couple had a son Kiernan, who was with Shauna Waite s mother when the crash occurred, friends said in a post on DC Road Runners Club website. The couple was part of the running club.
