Flagler Beach, FL – The City of Flagler Beach is offering residents the chance to take advantage of City Services this weekend with Super Spring Saturday. The event takes place from 10 a.m until 2 p.m. at the Flagler Beach Police Department (FBPD). Saturday is also National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day and residents can bring their unused or expired prescription medications for safe disposal. This gives people a place to get rid of unwanted medications anonymously and at no cost. Needles and fluids will not be accepted. Something else you can take care of is golf cart inspections and registration payments. The inspections will take place in the FBPD parking lot. A member of the City Finance Department will be on hand to collect payment for golf cart registrations. They are $40 and payments can be made with cash or check; no credit cards. Annual Drug Takeback Day set for Saturday

EDWARDSVILLE The Madison County Sheriff’s, Coroner’s and State’s Attorney’s office will hold their annual Drug Takeback Day event Saturday, April 24.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Madison County Administration Building in Edwardsville.
The county’s Emergency Management Agency mobile command vehicle will also be present.
“Drugs are a scourge on our neighborhoods and communities,” said State’s Attorney Thomas Haine, “I’m proud to partner with the sheriff and coroner’s offices to host this event and help keep unused prescriptions out of the hands of those who would sell, misuse, or abuse them.”
People can anonymously drop off their unused, unwanted, and expired prescription medications, free of charge.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. has seen an increase in overdose deaths during the COVID-19 pandemic, with nearly 86,000 Americans overdosing during the 12-month period ending August 2020, the most ever recorded in a 12-month span.
