Foreign minister praises women s participation in Cuban politics
Havana, May 18 (Prensa Latina) Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Tuesday praised the progress made by Cuba in terms of gender equality in politics, in view of the insufficient participation of women in that area in the world.
On his Twitter account, the head of Cuban diplomacy pointed out that according to the World Economic Forum, at the current rate the planet will need 145.5 years to achieve equality for women in that sphere.
The foreign minister also noted that Cuba boasts important achievements in this regard: women represent 53.22 percent of parliamentarians at the National People s Power Assembly (Parliament) and 51.5 percent of the leaders of the State and Government.

Havana, Apr 10 (Prensa Latina) Cuba will continue the juridical development of its Constitution despite Covid-19, President Miguel Diaz-Canel wrote on his Twitter account on Saturday. The president recalled that today is the second anniversary of the proclamation of the current Constitution, and added that not even in times of pandemic we will stop working to comply with the legislative schedule. We owe it to our history.
Last year, the National People s Power Assembly (Parliament) approved six new laws related to the institutional ordering of the State and the Government, as established in the Constitution.

Havana, Dec 20 (Prensa Latina) This week Cuba defined its main economic and legislative projections for 2021, a year that President Miguel Diaz-Canel described as intense and challenging.
On December 17, the National People s Power Assembly (Parliament) approved the economic plan and State budget for next year, when a gradual recovery of the main productive indicators is expected.
The goal is that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grows 6-7 percent, based on exports of goods and services, the decrease in imports and the linkages of the economic stockholders, including the non-state forms of management and foreign investment.

Havana, Dec 16 (Prensa Latina) The non-state sector in Cuba s economy will be more involved in gastronomic, personal and technical service management, Domestic Trade Minister (MINCIN) Betzy Diaz said on Wednesday.
She spoke at the National People s Power Assembly (Parliament), which will be in session through Thursday, December 17, although virtually due to the health situation caused by Covid-19.
In her report to lawmakers, Diaz announced the MINCIN improvement program, which goes hand in hand with the monetary overhaul and the implementation of the socioeconomic strategy adopted by the Government in the face of the pandemic and for the future.
