NECOP inks MoU with CUI

Islamabad : A memorandum of Understanding between the National Electronics Complex of Pakistan (NECOP) and COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) was signed here on Thursday at the principal seat of the later in Islamabad.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tabassum Afzal, Rector CUI and Dr. Sajid Baloch, Director General NECOP signed the document on behalf of their organisations. The MoU will promote collaboration between the two organisations in Research and Development in the areas of Computer Sciences, Electronics, Computer and Mechanical Engineering by granting access of NECOP Labs and facilities to COMSATS University Islamabad Researchers.
The organisations agreed to hold joint research seminars, workshops and conferences in the subjects of mutual interest.

ISLAMABAD: Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet on Friday approved rationalisation of subsidies on essential commodities available through Utility Stores Corporation (USC) due to increase in their prices.
The prices of edible oil at USCs would increase to Rs200/litre from Rs175/liter, according to the sources.
The ECC approved only partial rationalisation and directed officials to provide maximum relief to the consumers despite significant price differential between subsidised price offered by the USCs and the prevailing prices in the domestic markets.
The decision was taken during a meeting presided over by Minister for Finance and Revenue Hafeez Shaikh.

ISLAMABAD: The government on Friday abolished a 10 paisa per unit surcharge on electricity and increased the price of ghee by Rs30 per kg (15 per cent) for sale at Utility Stores.
The decisions were taken at a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet presided over by Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh that also approved about Rs850 million technical supplementary grants to various entities.
The committee increased the price of ghee from Rs170 per kg to Rs200 per kg instead of Rs220 per kg demanded by the ministry of industries.
