City Pursuing Establishing a Local Preservation Ordinance for Historic Structures The City of Jamestown is pursuing establishing a Local Preservation Ordinance for historic structures in the City. City Principal Planner Ellen Shadle gave a presentation to the Jamestown Planning Commission about what a Local Preservation Ordinance, or LPO, would do including providing building stock with additional protections Federal protections do not address, “An LPO expands the city’s toolbox in saving meaningful structures, having the ability to explore a range of options to unsightly or unsafe structures. The city is committed to striving for positive outcomes, from giving careful considerations to private property rights, concurrently with reviewing any individual’s actions on the community at large.”

Along I-20 West (1 hour from Augusta, 1 hour, 30 minutes from Atlanta) Named for former U.S. senator, Crawfordville may be one of the most filmed cities in Georgia. It’s home to 13 movies made in Georgia: “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Get Low” and “Pushing Up Daisies” among them. When you visit downtown Crawfordville, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped back into the early 1900s. The museum at A.H. Stephens State Park has one of the finest collections of Civil War Artifacts in Georgia, and there are 21 miles of trails to explore on horseback.
