“Decoding the Weather Machine” will be presented virtually as part of Phipps Conservatory’s environmental film series on Friday, Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. A discussion after the film features Shannon Hefferan, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh. “Monday Night Magic: Live Online” will be held every Monday at 8 p.m. as a co-presentation with the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s Liberty Magic Series. “Monday Night Magic” is New York’s longest running off-Broadway magic show. Southbound lanes of Interstate 79 reopened Sunday night after a crash closed part of the road in the North Hills for several hours, according to PennDOT.
Crews closed the highway around 8:30 p.m. at Mt. Nebo Road, exit 68, because of a truck crash, PennDOT spokeswoman Yasmeen Manyisha said. The road reopened around 10:30 p.m., according to PennDOT’s Twitter page.

Forecasters are calling for and more and more Christmas snow and have placed the region under a winter storm warning.
The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh is predicting heavy snow after dark Thursday evening. Five to eight inches of snow is expected over the course of Christmas Eve and Friday.
The winter storm warning is in effect until 1 p.m. Friday, after the National Weather Service upgraded the region form a winter weather advisory.
The warning is for Tuscarawas, Carroll, Columbiand, Harrison and Jefferson counties. Heavy snow is expected to hit Northeast Ohio and Northwest Pennsylvania.
The forecast is calling for rain to begin Thursday afternoon before it transitions into snow.
