Watford pet rescue centre seeking new home for Pedra the cat

Hi, my name is Pedra and I’m a beautiful 14-year-old girl. I was brought to the National Animal Welfare Trust in December when my owner sadly passed away. When I arrived at the NAWT I was quite shy and spent most of my day hiding in bed, but since then I’ve grown in confidence and let my sweet, affectionate personality shine through. I love to be stroked - chin scratches are my favourite - and I like sitting by the window sunbathing and watching the world go by. As I can be nervous in new situations I’ll need a gentle, experienced cat owner who won’t expect too much from me too soon. I don’t like being picked up but do love some gentle fuss.

Three Staffordshire Bull Terriers need a new home together

Hi, my name is Coco, these are my brothers Ralph and Louis and we’re affectionate, ten-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terriers looking for a loving home together. We were brought to the National Animal Welfare Trust this month when our heartbroken elderly owner was no longer able to care for us. We know three older dogs may seem like a lot to take on but we’ve been together our whole lives and get on so well it would be devastating to split us up. Coco is a laid back dog We’re so sweet and friendly, all the carers here love us. I’m pretty laid back, I just do my own thing, Louis can be a little anxious so likes to follow my lead and Ralph is the bravest of the three of us.

Vote for the winner of Watford s 2021 Pet Pawtraits competition

This week’s Watford Observer is a celebration of national pet month and continues our search for the champion Pet Pawtrait of 2021. Whether it’s a doting dog, cute cat, rabbit, fish, gerbil or something a little more exotic, we’re a nation of animal lovers and pets are a special and much-loved part of so many of our homes. As these wonderful pictures show, we’re clearly no different in the Watford area but which is our prize-winner? You’ll find a voting form in this week’s paper and now it’s up to you to help decide who wins our £100 gift card.
