The Carroll City Council entered into a closed session as the last agenda item at Monday’s meeting, but soon came back to an open meeting to take action on their discussion. The session was called to discuss potential litigation faced by the government entity and a settlement to forestall that litigation was announced. The insurance company representing Family Medical Specialty Center, Inc., Pick Properties LLC and Pick Chiropractic had subrogated a claim on damages to the building that occurred during a water main break on Jan. 15, 2018. Selective Insurance Company of America was seeking recompense, and has agreed to a settlement in the amount of $85,000. By signing the settlement, all of the claimants agree to release and fully discharge the City of Carroll, all of its employees, officers and directors, elected officials and agents from any and all liability in claims arising from that incident.
