SOGO suspects to remain detained

The Taipei District Court on Friday ruled that two lawmakers involved in a bribery scandal related to a dispute over the ownership of Pacific SOGO Department Store be detained for another two months.
After receiving approval from the Legislative Yuan earlier in the day, the court announced that Democratic Progressive Party Legislator Su Chen-ching (蘇震清) and Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) Legislators Sufin Siluko would be detained for another two months because of their alleged involvement.
Based on the Additional Articles of the Constitution, a court must receive permission from the legislature to detain a lawmaker.
Man given 4-year jail term for secretly filming women in toilets

Taipei, Dec. 16 (CNA) A 26-year-old man was sentenced to four years in prison by the Taipei District Court on Wednesday for secretly filming more than 100 women in school toilets.
The man, surnamed Chang, was charged with secretly making videos of the women using hidden cameras installed in toilets at schools, including National Taiwan University (NTU) and Taipei Municipal First Girls Senior High School, according to court documents.
A cleaning woman at NTU discovered a hidden camera at a school toilet in 2019 and reported the case to police.

The Taipei District Court on Friday ordered that PJ Asset Management CEO Daniel Tarng (唐楚烈) and three others be detained with restricted communication as part of a growing investigation into the alleged bribery of a Ministry of Labor funds manager in a stock manipulation scheme.
The court approved a request by the Taipei District Prosecutors’ Office to detain Tarng and PJ Asset Management executive Chiu Yu-yuan (邱裕元), as well as Fuh Hwa Securities Investment Trust Co chief investment officer John Chiu (邱明強) and Fuh Hwa asset manager Marco Liu (劉建賢), for suspected breaches of the Securities and Exchange Act (證券交易法).
