WCM-Q explores legal issues of telemedicine in pandemic

 22 Dec 2020 - 9:25 Healthcare professionals and legal experts participated in WCM-Q’s Intersection of Law and Medicine event to discuss the legal implications of the boom in telemedicine sparked by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Peninsula Doha: The legal implications of the dramatic rise in the use of telemedicine during the global COVID-19 pandemic were discussed at the latest installment of Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar’s (WCM-Q) Intersection of Law and Medicine series.  With physical distancing measures in place in many countries to limit the spread of the virus, telemedicine underwent several years’ worth of development in just a few weeks as healthcare professionals switched from in-person to virtual appointments.

Collaborative learning was one such key 21 st century skill, especially practiced in the online space. When working collaboratively it can lead to a more motivated and self-monitored working environment. When a standalone individual is working on a task, they have total independence. If that person starts to slack in his/her work nobody will be there to redirect their focus. In a team many people carry responsibilities for the same goal. They depend on each other’s observations and draw qualities from each other’s inputs and ideas. Effective teams can often then handle their own performance without intervention, as they use each other as a source of motivation to push each other’s work forward.

Queen Mary University of London Judges from the Office of the Thai Judiciary enjoy bespoke, intensive training at Queen Mary Office of the Thai Judiciary at the East London Employment Tribunals Service In partnership with the Office of the Judiciary of Thailand, Queen Mary has developed and delivered training for 70 judges. The Thai judges In Thailand seek to further their understanding of foreign judiciary practice to inform their work domestically. The challenge The judges initially expressed interest in a course in employment law related to top-flight sports professionals. There was a need for them to gain a broader understanding of the differences between EU and UK law and marine law, as well as an additional opportunity for them to experience UK culture, through day trips and field trips. Their time was limited and the training needed to be delivered over an intensive two-week period.
