The World Health Organization has recently recorded an increase in COVID-19 deaths and infections at the global level.
However, figures have settled in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, according to WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Ahmed al-Mandhari.
In a virtual press conference organized by the Region’s administration on Wednesday, Mandhari said 15 of the 22 regional countries have reported a decrease in the number of coronavirus cases, and 13 countries reported a decrease in the number of deaths.
He explained that the organization has “recorded nearly 4.6 million new infections and 78,000 new deaths across the world last week.”
