KARACHI:
The release of Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) spectrum in Pakistan would contribute to the overall economic growth through digitalisation and improve the quality of broadband services, said Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh.
He made the remarks while chairing a meeting of the advisory committee for the release of NGMS spectrum in Pakistan at the Finance Division on Thursday.
During the meeting, the finance minister urged consultants to adopt a proactive approach and meet the given deadlines effectively.
Work underway for provision of 4G Services in Gilgit-Baltistan: IT Minister

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin Ul Haque has said that work is underway for the provision of 4G Services in Gilgit-Baltistan.
In a meeting with the Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Khalid Khurshid in Islamabad on Wednesday, the minister said that arrangements are in the final stage for the provision of Telephone, Internet and Cable Service under the Triple Bundle Services in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The IT Minister said that under the Prime Minister’s vision of Digital Pakistan, Broadband Services will be provided across the Country.
ISLAMABAD, Dec. 31 (Gwadar Pro) - China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority Chairman Lt. General Asim Saleem Bajwa (retd) has said that Chinese companies were taking keen interest in Information Technology (IT) and fibre optic projects.
In a meeting with Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Aminul Haque here on Wednesday evening, he said Ministry of IT’s role was prominent in different CPEC projects.
Syed Aminul Haque said that Ministry of IT and Telecommunication will fully cooperate with CPEC Authority on all relevant projects. All steps taken for the prosperity of the country will be fully supported, he added.
He said that there were great opportunities for foreign investment in rapidly growing IT industry of Pakistan.
Ministry envisions to earn $5 billion from IT exports by 2023

ISLAMABAD: With a vision to achieve $5 billion by 2023, Pakistanâs export remittances from information technology and IT enabled services (ITeS) surged 38.16 percent to $648.940 million during July-November of FY2020-21, compared to $469.713 million during July-November FY2019-20, a statement said on Friday.
This was the highest growth rate achieved by the IT sector since 2018, when growth rate for the corresponding period was just 13 percent, the statement added.
Lauding the latest exports performance of the industry, Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin Ul Haque said the initiative for bringing the IT companies from secondary and tertiary cities into mainstream was well underway for ensuring holistic growth.
