Netanyahu family files defamation lawsuit against Ehud Olmert

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his wife Sarah and their son Yair have filed a defamation lawsuit against former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
According to them, Olmert said that Netanyahu, his wife and son Yair are mentally ill people who need psychiatric treatment.
In the lawsuit, which was filed in the Tel Aviv Magistrate s Court, the Netanyahu family is demanding NIS 837,000, with their legal team writing on Olmert s comments that these are obsessive attempts to damage their good name in public, out of jealousy and deep frustration.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his wife Sara and their son Yair filed a libel suit on Thursday against former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, after the latter said in an interview that all three suffer from incurable mental illness.
The suit, filed in the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court, is seeking 837,000 shekels ($257,000) in damages. The suit is based on two incidents. In the first, Olmert told with Gadi Sukenik on Democrat TV last month: “What can’t be fixed is the mental illness of the prime minister and his wife and son. That’s not fixable.” In the second, he refused to amend that statement on Channel 12 television’s Ofira & Berkovic” program when given the chance.

The Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court on Sunday approved upgrading to rape the charges against a man who had sex with a 13-year-old girl in a state-operated quarantine hotel in February. He had previously been indicted only on the charge of a forbidden consensual relationship, as well as other lesser offenses.
The unusual change to the indictment followed an outcry against the initial charges filed in April against Yarin Sherf, after which the mother of the alleged victim said she felt as though her daughter had been raped again.
Sherf, 21, was at first indicted at Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court on charges of prohibited consensual relations, sexual harassment, making threats, assault, and giving an intoxicating drink to a minor.
