The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stated on Sunday that the daily positivity rate in the country has doubled from 8 per cent to 16.69 per cent in just 12 days. Further, the weekly positivity rate has also witnessed a jump to 13.54 per cent from 3.05 per cent in the last one month. India on Sunday recorded its worst-ever single-day spike in COVID-19 cases on Sunday with a record 2,61,500 new coronavirus cases reported over the past 24 hours, the data updated by the health ministry at 8 am showed. The country also recorded a jump of 1,501 deaths in the overall toll.
