Mumbai:
Amid concerns over the new coronavirus strain, all passengers from the UK who test positive for COVID-19 will be kept under institutional quarantine, a Maharashtra government official said on Wednesday.
This is as per the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the Centre, he said.
The other passengers, who test negative, will be home quarantined along with daily updates by district surveillance officers, the official said.
The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday issued SOPs for epidemiological surveillance and response for the new variant of SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19.

BENGALURU: Amid concerns over the new coronavirus strain detected in the United Kingdom, the Karnataka government led by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Wednesday announced the imposition of a night curfew across the state starting from December 23 till January 2, 2021. Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray asked all district collectors to study treatment method for new Covid variant. Uddhav led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government had earlier announced 14-day mandatory institutional quarantine for passengers coming from Europe and the Middle East. At a high-level meeting, the chief minister decided to implement night curfew across cities in the state.
