NEW DELHI: ”Hunar Haat”, the Minority Affairs Ministry”s flagship initiative to encourage master artisans, is playing a “phenomenal” role in making “Vocal for Local” campaign a mass movement, Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said on Saturday.
Addressing media persons at the ”Hunar Haat” being held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here, the Minority Affairs Minister said more than 12 lakh people have visited the ”Hunar Haat” which opened on February 20.
The number of visitors is likely to go over 16 lakh in the next two days. The ”Hunar Haat” will be concluding on March 1, 2021.
The 10-day ”Hunar Haat” was inaugurated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

He said that “Hunar Haat” has been playing an important role in strengthening the country’s economy. Modi Govt is promoting the indigenous artisans and craftsmen of the country. “Hunar Haat” brings together indigenous artisans and craftsmen from across the country. Rajnath Singh Ji said that, “Hunar Haat” is a beautiful exhibition of our traditional art and craft and more importantly our “cultural mosaic”. “Hunar Haat” is doing branding of the traditional legacy of artisans, craftsmen. “Hunar Haat” is playing an important role towards “Aatmnirbhar Bharat”. Shri Rajnath Singh Ji said that, “Hunar Haat” has turned the Corona pandemic into an opportunity for “Vocal for Local”. Artisans, craftsmen continued production of their indigenous products which were provided market and opportunities through “Hunar Haat”.
More than 600 artisans and craftsmen from more than 31 States and Union Territories are participating in the Hunar Haat here, Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.
