BEIJING: China s state-run Sichuan Airlines has suspended all its cargo flights to India for 15 days, causing major disruption to private traders efforts to procure the much-needed oxygen concentrators and other medical supplies from China despite Beijing offering support and assistance to the country to deal with the latest surge of Covid-19 cases.
In a letter to the sales agents on Monday, the Sichuan Chuanhang Logistics Co Ltd, the company which is part of the Sichuan Airlines said the airline has suspended its cargo flights on six routes, including Xian to Delhi, amid hectic efforts by private traders from both sides to procure oxygen concentrators from China.
NEW DELHI: India recorded 2,59,170 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, taking its covid caseload to 1,53,21,089 while active cases surpassed the 20-lakh mark, according to the Union health ministry data updated on Tuesday.
The death toll increased crossed the 1.8 lakh mark with record 1,761 daily new fatalities.
Registering a steady increase for the 41st day in a row, the active cases increased to 20,31,977, comprising 13.26per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has dropped to 85.56 per cent.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,31,08,582, while the case fatality rate has further dropped to 1.18 per cent, the data stated.
NEW DELHI: Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday said she has taken inputs from various industry chambers on concerns of India Inc with regard to the management of Covid-19 pandemic and the centre would continue to work with state governments to save lives and livelihood.
She sought feedback from businesses to deal with the impact of the second Covid wave on the country s economy.
It is to be noted that the economy contracted by a whopping 23.9 per cent in the first quarter (April-June) of the previous financial year due to the outbreak of the Covid pandemic.
