According to the Health Ministry getting vaccinated for COVID-19 will be voluntary
Around 3 lakh healthcare workers will be inoculated at 2,934 sites across the country on the first day of the massive nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive which is set to begin from January 16, official sources said.
Each vaccination session will cater to a maximum of 100 beneficiaries and the Union Health Ministry has advised states not to organise unreasonable numbers of vaccination per site per day .

People will not have a choice between the two COVID vaccines that will be rolled out on 16th January across India. Speaking at a press conference on January 12, the Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan gave examples of how vaccines have been rolled out around the world. In no country is there an option available regarding choice of vaccines. We would be staggering our supply orders, he said.
Even as over 45 countries have started the process of inoculating its populations against the novel coronavirus, many have run into problems linked to supply and sluggish distribution.

India reported 16,946 fresh coronavirus cases and 198 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) said on Thursday.
With the addition of fresh Covid-19 cases, the overall cases in India reached 1,05,12,093 including 2,13,603 active cases.
The govt has said that vaccine recipients, for now, will not have the option to choose from the two vaccines Oxford vaccine, Covishield, and indigenously developed Covaxin that have been approved for restricted emergency use in India

PM Modi will likely virtually interact with health workers at some locations on the day of the launch of the vaccine drive, sources said, adding select hospitals in states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi have been asked to make preparations.
Health and frontline workers at Delhi s Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital - one of the country s biggest Covid hospitals - will get vaccinated first. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and minister Satyendar Jain will attend the inaugural event.
The country s drug regulator has approved Covishield, the Oxford vaccine being manufactured by Serum Institute of India, and Bharat Biotech s homegrown Covaxin for restricted emergency use.
