New Delhi, Jan 7 : Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has written to Maharashtra, Kerala, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal, urging them to take steps to curb the spike in coronavirus cases.
These states are reporting an upsurge in the number of daily new cases in the recent days, and comprise 59 per cent of the total active cases in the country. About 28.61 per cent cases are in Kerala, followed by 22.79 per cent in Maharashtra, 3.99 per cent in Chhattisgarh and 3.89 per cent in West Bengal.

Concerned over rising covid cases, the Union Health Secretary has written to Maharashtra, Kerala, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal urging them to take steps to curb the spike. These states are reporting an upsurge in the number of daily news cases in recent days.
The States have been advised to maintain a strict vigil and to take steps to keep a check on the rising cases, especially in view of the new strain of the virus being observed in certain countries which has also been reported in a few States in India. The Health Secretary has drawn the attention of the States to the low and declining testing rates in the States, stating that any laxity at this crucial junction may squander the results of our collective actions in containing the transmission.

The Union Health Secretary has written to Maharashtra, Kerala, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal urging them to take steps to curb the spike in coronavirus cases. As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, these states have been reporting an upsurge in the number of daily new coronavirus cases in recent days.

The Union Health Secretary wrote to the Maharashtra, Kerala, Chhattisgarh and Bengal governments on Thursday to underline the need for strict vigil and prompt action to arrest the recent spike in coronavirus cases in each of the states. These four states account for 59 per cent of all active Covid cases in the country, the Health Secretary, Rajesh Bhushan, said in his letter.
The state governments were also warned against allowing testing rates to drop - particularly in light of the spread of a mutated (and considerably more infectious) strain of the virus - and to aggressively implement the Test-Track-Treat strategy deployed by other states.
