Hart District, Albertsons Hosts Free COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic
The William S. Hart Union High School District collaborated with Albertsons to offer a free COVID-19 vaccination clinic to members of the community on Friday.
Thanks to a partnership between the Hart District and Albertsons, students, families and other members of the community were able to get COVID-19 vaccinations at a free clinic at Placerita Junior High School on Friday.
“For us, getting kids back in the classrooms is the main goal that we have right now. And anything we can do to help the community, we want to support and be able to do that,” said Dave Caldwell, Public Relations Officer for the Hart District. “These vaccines have been remarkable and have dropped the virus numbers dramatically; obviously they’re having an effect.”
After publicly expressing their support for hosting live graduations earlier this year, William S. Hart Union High School District officials outlined their proposed plans for the Class of 2021 ceremonies during their Wednesday night governing board meeting.
Officials said that while they hope to have the graduations once again at College of the Canyons football stadium, the layout of the graduate seats would be dramatically different than in years past, 6 feet of social distancing between households will be required of those spectating, and graduates will only be allowed to bring two spectators each, unless the family wins additional tickets in a lottery.

When the COVID vaccine became available to young people ages 16 and older, Evelyn Arce heard students say they wouldn’t get vaccinated because they don’t trust the vaccine.
They had Evelyn convinced for a day or two. But the 17-year-old senior at Hoover High in City Heights soon changed her mind based on data, not peer pressure.
Recent data show COVID case rates have plummeted as more people have been vaccinated, Evelyn said, and society is opening back up again.
“I was like, ‘Why am I listening to my peers when there’s people that know more?’,” she said Wednesday. “I don’t believe the conspiracy theories going around, because I see the statistics.”
