USA CYCLING ANNOUNCES CANCELATION OF SPRING COLLEGIATE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 02/20/21
In order to ensure the safety of our members, USA Cycling has decided to cancel the 2021 Collegiate Road National Championships, due to take place May 7-9 in Augusta, GA, and Collegiate BMX National Championships, due to take place this spring. While the nation is seeing a downward trend of new COVID-19 cases and deaths, collegiate conference road seasons have been canceled, and universities and colleges across the country have travel restrictions in place. These circumstances make holding a collegiate road season with a National Championship at the finale impossible for many riders.

Status of 2021 UCI Road International Calendar 02/19/21
The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and representatives of professional road cycling’s principal families –organisers (AIOCC), teams (AIGCP) and riders (CPA) – met yesterday for a video conference organised by the Federation, to discuss the current status of the 2021 UCI International Road Calendar in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The participants hailed the fact that the 2021 road season has started, and that several high-level events are taking place thanks to the implementation and respect of extremely strict and effective sanitary protocols.
As of today, 38 events have been cancelled in 2021 at men’s and women’s professional level (Class 1 and above). While some of these are definitively cancelled and will not take place before 2022, others have requested to be rescheduled to a later date in 2021. This is the case of 24 events. KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin hailed national track cycling icon Mohd Azizulhasni Awang for his top world ranking in the men s individual sprint.
The Prime Minister said Thursday (Feb 11) that Azizulhasni s achievement was a source of pride for Malaysia. With this latest success, Mohd Azizulhasni, who is fondly known as the Pocket Rocketman qualifies to be called World Sprint King, ” Muhyiddin said in a post on his Facebook page.
Based on the latest rankings issued by UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale), the world governing body for sports cycling, on Tuesday (Feb 9), Azizulhasni collected 1,600 points to clinch the top spot in the men s individual sprint.

An article on Sunday about a call for safety measures in professional cycling paraphrased imprecisely comments made by Laura Mora, the secretary general of the Cyclistes Professionnels Associés, who talked about the difficulty of enforcing safety rules in cycling races. Ms. Mora said she meant her group had threatened legal action against race organizers, not against the Union Cycliste Internationale, cycling’s governing body.
