Pay Us.” That’s a campaign from the unions representing Ontario’s health care workers, wanting better respect, protection, and better pay for women in healthcare. Sharon Richer, with the Ontario Council of Hospital Unions, says they demand better. “We have a right to demand that our safety be our priority, including taking every precaution to protect the workforce, something that is simply not happening,” says Richer. Service Employees International Union’s Sharleen Stewart says they also want a 4-dollar an hour ‘pandemic pay’ increase made permanent and the minimum wage for personal support workers to start at 25-dollars an hour. She says the message to the Premier is simple.
