UPDATE: Pennsylvania Driver Critical After Passaic County Tree Crash

Read / Add Comments A Pennsylvania driver was critically injured when her compact car struck a tree in West Milford during the Independence Day weekend, authorities confirmed Tuesday. The 32-year-old Bethel, PA resident was driving a 2006 Toyota Scion xB that crashed outside the Secluded Acres Horse Boarding farm on Union Valley Road shortly after 6 p.m., they said. Both she and a 34-year-old male passenger from Lake Hopatcong were taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and West Milford Police Chief James DeVore said. The driver remained there in critical condition, they said, adding that her passenger was released after being treated.

TVA takes action to protect Oak Ridge power towers from crashes

Oakridger TVA has put a concrete barrier around a transmission tower and moved it further away from the road to prevent it from toppling over again and causing another power outage like the massive one last month. Most Oak Ridge residents lost power after a pickup truck with a trailer hit the TVA electrical transmission tower at the intersection of South Illinois Avenue/state Highway 62 and Union Valley Road on Jan. 22. “TVA will not lose focus on actions currently underway to address your concerns associated with this outage,” TVA President Jeff Lyash said in a letter to Oak Ridge Mayor Warren Gooch and City Manager Mark Watson.

Two Injured After Rollover Crash In Mahopac

Read / Add Comments Two were injured when a driver lost control of a vehicle and rolled over, landing more than 20 feet off the roadway in Putnam County, officials said. Jack Casey, the Mahopac Fire Department public information officer, said that first responders were dispatched to Union Valley Road shortly after 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 29, where there was a reported rollover crash. Upon arrival, first responders found a vehicle on its side off the roadway with the driver outside and a passenger still inside. Casey said that one victim was evaluated and the driver was transported by a Mahopac ambulance to Danbury Hospital for further evaluation.
