NEW DELHI, Jan 22: There is a palpable excitement among members of the Ladakh contingent for the Republic Day parade as the young Union Territory is all set to make its debut in the extravaganza on Rajpath with a beautiful tableau depicting the iconic Thikse Monastery and its cultural heritage.
The Union Territory of Ladakh was created in 2019 after the Central Government bifurcated the State of Jammu and Kashmir into two UTs.
On Friday, during a media preview of the R-Day tableaux held here, members of the Ladakh contingent were feeling “on top of the world”.

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Jan 22: Four persons including a CRPF personnel died of COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir while 88 tested positive for the virus and 97 others were discharged.
A 49-year-old CRPF jawan hailing from Balaya in Uttar Pradesh and posted at 178 battalion of CRPF died of COVID-19 in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu. He was also HIV positive.
A 65-year-old woman from village Gharana in RS Pura tehsil of Jammu died of co-morbidities and pathogen in the same hospital.
A 70-year-old man from village Ramhama Beerwah and an 80-year-old man from Mouchwa Baghi Mehtab in Budgam district died of COVID in Kashmir.

JAMMU, Jan 22: A major reshuffle is on cards in Army’s top hierarchy in the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh involving GOCs of Srinagar-based 16 Corps, Karu (Ladakh)-headquartered 3 Infantry Division which looks after the Eastern Ladakh where India and Chinese troops are engaged in standoff for past several months, Rajouri’s 25 Infantry Division and Gulmarg’s High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) among others.
Sources told the Excelsior that after highly successful tenure as General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Srinagar-based 15 Corps Lt Gen BS Raju is likely to get prestigious post of the Director General Military Operations (DGMO) in place of Lieutenant General Paramjit Singh Sanga. Former Northern Command chief Lt Gen Ranbir Singh was the DGMO when the Indian Army had carried out surgical strikes in Pakistan.
