Union Home Ministry on Friday (April 30) advised states to treat the available oxygen as a critical commodity and undertake oxygen consumption audits in all hospitals including private hospitals. It also asked them to go for intensive and local containment measures in districts with a high number of COVID-19 cases to contain the pandemic.

New Delhi: Amid rising coronavirus cases across the country, Union Home Ministry on Friday (April 30) advised states to undertake oxygen consumption audits in all hospitals including private hospitals. It asked them to go for intensive and local containment measures in districts with a high number of COVID-19 cases to contain the pandemic.
In its observation, the ministry said that Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh are reporting much higher peaks than reported earlier, while other states like Karnataka, Kerala, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Goa and Odisha not only reporting higher peaks but also high case growth trajectory.
