New Delhi, Feb 22 : Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla on Monday directed the DRDO and the Uttarakhand administration to keep a constant watch on the situation in Chamoli district where flash floods triggered by an avalanche wreaked havoc earlier this month, assuring all assistance from the Central agencies to the state government.
In a multi-agency meeting, Bhalla also reviewed the status of a natural lake formed after the flash floods in the upper catchment of the Rishiganga river in Chamoli district.

New Delhi [India], February 22 (ANI): Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla on Monday chaired a high-level meeting here to discuss further course of action on the lake created after flash floods in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, said sources.
The meeting was attended by SS Deswal, Director General (DG), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), SN Pradhan, Director General, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Uttarakhand state officials and other senior officials.
The meeting lasted for 45 minutes and it was decided that the concerned agencies will observe water flow in the lake for some time.

Authorities have recovered the bodies of 36 people who were presumed dead in Uttarakhand where flash floods devastated the Chamoli district on Sunday. Efforts are still underway to rescue nearly 30 workers trapped inside the Tapovan Tunnel.
On Thursday, the bodies of two other missing people were recovered from the banks of the Alaknanda river. District Magistrate Swati S Bhadoria confirmed that the bodies of 36 out of the 206 people missing since the flash floods have been recovered. Search operations are still underway to locate the remaining 168 people, she added.

New Delhi, Feb 11 : Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla on Thursday reviewed the progress of rescue and relief work being carried out by the Central as well as state government agencies at the site of the hydro project of the NTPC at Tapovan on the Dhauliganga River in Uttarakhand.
The Dhauliganga River was impacted by an avalanche incident in the upper catchment area of the Rishiganga River in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand on February 7.
