Realizing the need for alternatives to one-size-fits-all education, Aberdeen School District in Washington plans to expand nontraditional options like career technical education, GED and online learning.

Shutterstock (TNS) The Aberdeen School District is expanding their less-traditional programs to help more students, young and old, get their diploma or GED. Educators are attempting to reach students who might fall through the cracks of a traditional school.
The pandemic has shown educators that students learn in many different ways, and that there is rarely a one-size-fits-all solution to education. Copperas Cove High Schoolâs Sandra Perry is the CCISD Secondary Teacher of the Year.
Perry, a registered nurse, has been teaching 22 years and is the head of the Career/Technology Education Department and also serves as the mentor coordinator for experienced teachers who are mentoring teachers new to the education field and the school district. In the classroom, Perry provides hands-on learning so that students receive real-world experience they will need to be successful in the nursing and/or pharmacy industry.
