The Technological Center for Plastics (Andaltec) in Martos, Spain, reports that it has participated in the development of an innovative syringe carrier for use by medical personnel in emergency situations. The device, invented by nurse Ana Cintora, ensures that pre-filled syringes are properly aligned and positioned for the administration of the medication.
The syringe carrier is easy to clean, can be sterilized in a microwave, and makes the medication accessible to the healthcare provider while keeping his or her hands free for other tasks. Plus, it’s ergonomic and helps increase efficiency when injecting drugs, Andaltec said. Cintora brought her idea to Andaltec, which was involved in the entire development process.
