Published January 29, 2021 4:31pm By TED CORDERO, GMA News More than two dozens vaccine developers are negotiating with the Philippines for the potential supply of COVID-19 vaccines for the country, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) said Friday. In a virtual presser, Science and Technology Secretary Fortunato dela Peña said 25 COVID-19 vaccine developers from 10 countries were in talks with the DOST. Of the 25, six are from China, another six are from the United States. Three developers are from Taiwan, two each are from Russia, Australia, and Germany. Meanwhile, there is one developer each from India, Japan, UK, and Canada who are in talks with the Philippines.

DOST Secretary Fortunato dela Peña said the Indian biotechnology company has yet to submit the requirements for clinical trials amid its recent signing of a Confidentiality Disclosure Agreement (CDA) with the Task Group on Vaccine Evaluation and Selection.
“A CDA with Bharat Biotech for their clinical trial in the Philippines was recently signed. Submission of their requirements for clinical trial is being awaited which will be evaluated by the Vaccine Expert Panel and Ethics Board before it is given to FDA for approval,” he told the Manila Bulletin.
A Confidentiality Disclosure Agreement (CDA) has been signed by the Task Group on Vaccine Evaluation and Selection with German company Curevac, Department of Science and Technology (DoST) Secretary Fortunato dela Pena said Friday.

The Philippine Genome Center (PGC) is a good example of what science can do for people, the Department of Science and Technology’s top official said Saturday, Jan. 16.
“It was indeed a very timely decision that DOST and the University of the Philippines (UP) with the help of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) partnered in putting up the Philippine Genome Center within the UP System way back in 2009,” DOST Secretary Fortunato dela Peña said in a Facebook post.
