NEW CASTLE (May 12, 2021) – Georgetown Public Library and the Division for the Visually Impaired (DVI) have established a cooperative partnership designed to increase access to assistive technology training and support to the blind and visually impaired community. DVI provides people who are blind and visually impaired access to statewide technology centers where they can work with a Technology Trainer to evaluate assistive technology equipment and training needs. The current Sussex County training center is within a state office campus that is inaccessible to fixed-route public transportation. The partnership with the Georgetown Public Library provides DVI the opportunity to expand access in Sussex County because of its proximity to public transportation. In addition, the partnership promotes full immersion and community inclusion. The Greater Nashville Technology Council on Thursday evening announced the winners of its 12th annual NTC Awards in an event broadcast live from Stage Post Studios to more than 400 online attendees.
The hybrid in-person-and-virtual program was co-hosted by Brian Moyer, the Council’s president and CEO, and author, corporate and community leader Derek Young. The evening featured representatives of about 100 technology companies and related organizations in Middle Tennessee and celebrated winners in 16 categories, including two new awards: Diversity and Inclusion Advocate of the Year and Technology Educator of the Year. Tractor Supply was Technology Company of the Year, and Lindsey Morgan of Vaco was announced as NTC s Champion of the Year.

Contest organizers invite public to pitch presentations Spokane’s University District and North Idaho College are collaborating to host the final round of the 16th annual Northwest Entrepreneur Competition online Wednesday, April 15. Ryan Arnold, director of regional entrepreneurship strategy at North Idaho College, says 35 high school and undergraduate student teams from Washington and Idaho initially entered the competition. In the final round, nine teams across three categories will compete for cash prizes of up to $10,000. Categories include the traditional business category, which is for locally-focused ideas such as products, services, or restaurants; the technology business category, sponsored by Avista Corp., for products and software that involve intellectual property; and the Perkins Coie open business category, in which student team members may choose additional team members who are graduate students, faculty, or community members.
