Cops ID man killed in 2-vehicle crash on Garden State Parkway

State Police have identified the man killed in Monday’s two-vehicle crash on the Garden State Parkway in Union County as a 46-year-old from East Orange.
Christopher Meikle was driving south on the Parkway in Clark at around 2:40 a.m. when his car and an SUV collided, according to State Police. Meikle was was brought to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Rahway, where he was pronounced dead.
The 43-year-old Irvington man driving the SUV remains hospitalized in serious condition. The cause of the crash, which took place near milepost 136.1, is still under investigation.

One man was killed and another seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash early Monday on the southbound Garden State Parkway in Union County, authorities said.
The crash took place at about 2:40 a.m. near milepost 136.3 in Clark, State Police said. The driver of an SUV was taken to University Hospital in Newark, while the the driver of the other vehicle was pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Rahway.
The identity of the deceased driver has not been released pending family notification. Additional details about the crash were not immediately available as State Police investigate its cause.
