The North Bay and District Labour Council is calling for immediate and long-term funding for Laurentian University in Sudbury in order to end its current insolvency filing.
In a statement issued this week by the labour council, president Henri Giroux says Laurentian, like all universities in Ontario, is among the least funded publicly in Canada.

“The ministry was aware of what was happening and chose to let this crisis happen,” he is quoted saying. “This isn’t good enough. It isn’t good enough for workers, students, faculty, the people of Sudbury or the people of Northern Ontario.”
