Joburg mayor hopes new campaign will see potholes ‘as a thing of the past Updated Neo Motloung Share this: The City of Johannesburg believes the thousands of potholes in roads around the city will soon be a thing of the past.  Image courtesy: Neo Motloung Mayor Geoff Makhubo, together with Discovery and Dial Direct, launched the Pothole Patrol campaign in Sandton on Monday morning. The Pothole Patrol partnership aims to manage the repair of potholes throughout Johannesburg.  Makhubo said the aim is to improve the city’s road infrastructure over the next 120 days.   We have 120 days of accelerated service delivery, and part of that is to close all potholes and resurface where we can and to improve the conditions of roads.”

Image: City Power City Power said it will embark on a three-week programme to patrol and clear electricity line servitudes of any encroaching objects, which have been blamed for the frequent power outages experienced in the Greenstone area, northeast of Johannesburg. In a statement, the City of Johannesburg said the MMC for environment and infrastructure services department (EISD), Mpho Moerane, paid a visit to City Power’s Sebenza and Westfield substations in Edenvale and Modderfontein in Kempton Park on Thursday, on a fact-finding mission to get to the bottom of what caused the outages.
