MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - The City of Myrtle Beach now has new rules in place for the beach.
Earlier this week, city council passed three new rules addressing hole digging, tents for children and surf fishing in the area.
Under the new rules, it’s now illegal to dig a hole deeper than two feet on the beach. Holes can also not be left unfilled, and metal shovels are no longer allowed for recreational digging.
City leaders also updated guidance for children’s tents, increasing the allowed size for shading. The minimum size is now four feet wide, three feet deep and three feet high.
