The communications job will be tasked with supporting and improving the city’s outreach efforts.
The city also will hire a revenue compliance officer who will be responsible for collecting outstanding fees for business and dog licenses, and regulatory permits. The person will also be tasked with issuing citations and assisting Lemon Grove’s current code enforcement officer.
Communication efforts have been lacking for some time, City Councilman Jerry Jones said, and the city has received harsh criticism for not doing a better job of reaching out. He said case in point was a plan for a half-cent sales tax measure that was defeated in March 2020, in which people said they were not well informed on the issue.
