Gunman shoots and kills a cop who was working security for a high school basketball playoff game in New Orleans
New Orleans police were called to the George Washington Carver High School at around 6.30pm on Friday evening after getting reports of multiple gunshots
A suspect at the scene has been taken into custody but that person s identity has not been released
The officer s identity won t be released until officials can alert their family
2nd City Court Constable Edwin Shorty said that the victim was a deputy in his office
At the time of the shooting, Carver was playing Warren Easton in a playoff game

Feb. 27 (UPI) Police have arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of a police officer at a Carver High School basketball game in New Orleans.
The incident occurred at about 6:15 p.m. Friday at a basketball playoff game on the campus of George Washing Carver High School in New Orleans where Carver was facing off against Warren Easton High.

A person attempted to enter the game and had an altercation with a staff member, New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Shaun Ferguson told reporters Friday evening.
